DISBAND VIGILANTES - 2020 IS NEAR
Vigilantism is when people " take the law into their own hands" in order to protect or advance their own interests. Ghana has been one of the country's in the African continent who entertain vigilantism groups in their political parties. A violent action which occurred during the Ayawaso West Wougon bye election has lead citizens in the in fear and unsecured. The two major political parties in Ghana known as the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party have trained and employed most youth to form these groups. Some are identified as Azorka Boys, Hawks, Invincible forces, Delta forces and so on. These groups which political parties refuses to own up that they form it and clear the minds of citizens are still operating in the system. During the bye election at Ayawaso West Wougon, voters troubled and panic due to the violence at La Bawlashie where eight people sustained gunshot and wounds. The chaos was cause by unidentified vigilantism group that appeared at the scene irrespective of the police that were present at the post. Some of these vigilant appear in suit because they are people in authority, law and political appointees who will do whatever to pursue their party interest. Vigilantes are known to harass, threaten, assault and assassinate opponents but yet they are being kept by these two major political parties.The securities in the country has become powerless because when they arrest these individuals, they will surely be released through the back door by these political actors. The president gave the opportunity to The Emily Short Commission of Enquiry to probe on the matter concerning the Ayawaso Violence. The process went on smoothly and yet for over nine months nothing was heard by the citizens form investigations. The two major parties were scheduled to meet on April 9, 2019 to mediate on disbanding political vigilante in the country. The meeting has not brought any solid signal or feedback to the citizens in the country. The two major parties has been silence since. DISBAND VIGILANTES to save the innocent voter in 2020.
